The Judson Palmer Home is an assisted living community designed to be home for women of Hancock County, 55 years and older, who are in financial need.
The Judson Palmer Home is unique in that the facility is self-sustaining and sees no funding from the community. The home is funded by a private trust created by Judson and Katherine Palmer and is governed by a board of trustees.
Judson Palmer Home residents
NEVER PAY for monthly rent, nor do they
pay for meals, medical expenses, prescription medications, incontinence supplies,
housekeeping, laundry services or
any other need!
If a resident's health demands, the Judson Palmer Home will pay for care at another facility. The Judson Palmer Home also pays its residents' funeral expenses, unless a pre-paid funeral has been arranged in advance.
Caring For Our Residents
Nurses are on-site 24/7 to care for residents and are assisted by State Tested Nursing Assistants. Each resident has a private room that meets their individual taste. Three nutritious, home-made meals and a snack are served daily.
Residents are free to come and go as their health permits, and planned social activities both in and out of the home are provided. Personal care services, such as a beautician, are available regularly at the home.
The Judson Palmer facility
The main building of the Judson Palmer Home was built in 1950. Housing only up to 16 residents at any time, the Judson Palmer Home provides its residents an intimate setting that is as close to home as possible.
Expansion of the Judson Palmer Home
Construction of the addition to the Home is well under way! The addition will be the new location of our 16 resident rooms. These rooms have been expanded to include en suite bathrooms with walk-in showers, and include amenities such as new televisions, phones, and an upgraded call system.
The addition to the Judson Palmer Home will also house our new and expanded activity room, a new lounge with a fireplace and coffee bar, and a centralized nurses' station.
Finally, our outdoor space is expanding, as well! A covered patio, walking paths, gazebo, and new flower gardens will all add to the quality of life of our residents as well as the beauty of the Home.
A larger parking lot and new front entrance are also among the changes and improvements to the Palmer Home.
