The Judson Palmer Home is not a nursing home.
It is a residence home for women of Hancock County 55 years and better. And, it is much more than that.
When a lady becomes a member of the Judson Palmer family, she will not only be cared for now but the rest of her life. Her quality of life will be ensured as we will always take care of her medical expenses, prescription drugs, nursing home care, funeral expenses, as well as her personal care items.
The Judson Palmer Home is a licensed residential care facility designed to be "home" to 17 ladies, regardless of their financial means. The home is funded by a private trust created by Judson and Katherine Palmer and is governed by a board of trustees. The trustees only commitment is to provide a quality of life for each woman through a caring home-like atmosphere.
Self-Supporting
The Judson Palmer Home seeks no funding from the community. It only provides services to the community.
A staff of 30, with Registered Nurses providing 24/7 care to the residents assisted by State Tested Nursing Assistants. Each resident has a private, decorated room on one of the two floors, with a communal bathroom on each floor. In the downstairs living room, residents cluster around the television or the piano for regular group sings. The facility also includes three sun rooms, decorated in soft blue and green tones. Three nutritious, delicious meals and a snack are available daily.
A lucky resident may find our new feline friends Moo-Moo and Snowball, looking for an open lap.
Residents are free to come and go as their health permits, but planned social activities both in and out of the home are provided. Personal care services, such as a beautician, are available regularly at the home.
Other Services
Other services provided include laundry, housekeeping, and nursing aid assistants. Cablevision and air conditioning is available in each individual room.
A beautiful rose garden is part of the lovely grounds, ideal for taking an afternoon stroll.
In short, everything possible is done to enhance the quality of life for each resident at the Judson Palmer Home.
